Job Title: Training and Development Coach – Bilingual (Ottawa, ON)
Salary Range: $55,098 - $57,042

The Role 
To assist persons with disabilities to find and retain employment through providing counselling on educational, training and employment opportunities and through marketing the Employment Counselling and Services Program to prospective employers and community organizations. This includes managing an active caseload, using professional casework techniques, and assisting clients in achieving maximum possible independence in job search and job retention. Key Responsibilities: 
  • Interview clients to obtain employment history, educational background and career goals; 
  • Perform general assessment interviews investigating individual employment strengths and barriers; 
  • Assist clients with such matters as job readiness skills, job search strategies, writing resumes, and preparing for job interviews; 
  • Promote employment of job-ready clients to employers and provide support and information on adjustment to the workplace and on appropriate technical aids; 
  • Assist clients with career exploration decisions. This may include the administration and interpretation of tests designed to determine the interests, aptitudes and abilities of clients; 
  • Assist clients in identifying barriers in employment maintenance and to work to overcome these barriers; 
  • Provide support to clients during their search for employment, particularly in dealing with barriers, negative attitudes or rejections, which may be encountered; 
  • Monitor the progress of and maintain support to clients who are participating in training; 
  • Maintain an inventory of potential employers, by class of position and skills required; 
  • Collect labour market information for clients regarding job openings, entry and skill requirements and other occupational information; 
  • Maintain client files, data bases, including statistical and employment interview material; 
  • Prepare regular written staff reports and attend regular staff meetings; 
  • Represent the Council at various committees, workshops and conferences and prepare reports on outcomes; 
  • Participate in marketing the services of the program; 
  • Participate in public relations and promotions program in support of employment for persons with disabilities, especially to employer groups. 
  • Complete statistical and other reports as required by the funding organizations 
Requirements to be considered for this job: 
  • University degree and/or combination of skills in employment counselling or disabilities fields, or any combination of education, training and experience, which is considered equivalent; 
  • Innovative problem solving, organizational, marketing and public relation skills; 
  • Good counselling, communications and interpersonal skills; 
  • Ability to work independently; 
  • Knowledge and understanding of the situation and the needs of people with disabilities; 
  • Knowledge of employment-related programs and services; 
  • Bilingual or proficient in both languages (***preferred***), ASL an asset 
  • All CCRW staff are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of hire in accordance with CCRW’s Vaccination Policy 
  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) is required
