Gary Robertson is a future-focused inspirational leader with over 30 years of international, innovation-driven experience positioning organizations for success. He is a Certified Human Resources Professional with extensive expertise in business management & operations, human resources, corporate development, labour relations, human rights, DEI, environmental health & safety, disability management, sustainability strategies, ESG, and government relations.
Currently a strategic advisor to Ubiquity Solar Inc., a rapid growth solar technology platform that is creating low carbon & sustainable solar energy solutions, Gary oversees the establishment of operations across North America. He previously served as the Global VP Human Resources & Corporate Development at Canadian Solar, one of the largest solar panel manufacturers and project developers in the world. Gary is also the Principal of GWR Consulting, an HR solutions services provider focused on helping growing businesses and their employees thrive.
Concurrent with executive positions at major Canadian companies, Gary has held senior posts on the boards of several industry and trade associations and recently received his Global ESG Competent Boards Designation (GCB.G). He led the development and management of a specialized construction labour services group and jointly established an occupational health management business to support injured workers. He is Past President of the Council of Ontario Construction Associations and volunteers on several non-profit boards who are working to improve our quality of life.
A sought-after expert in his field, Gary designs and delivers profession and industry-specific solutions to clients worldwide. He has been a guest lecturer at University of Toronto’s Department of Civil Engineering and an Instructor at the University of Waterloo School of continuing education. Gary was recognized by the City of Toronto for his outreach work in race relations and he is a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership Management, UK & The Royal Society for Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA).
Gary lives in Hamilton (the Hammer), Ontario and Nelson, B.C.
