‘The Klabona Keepers’ Film Screening

October 18, 2023 | 3-5PM (PDT)
Wavefront Centre for Communication Accessibility - 2005 Quebec Street Vancouver, BC V5T 2Z6

The Klabona Keepers is a love letter to the land and a testament to the resilience of the Tahltan people—an intimate portrait of the inspiring Indigenous families that succeeded in protecting the Klabona Sacred Headwaters, an important natural habitat in northwest British Columbia.

Curiko and CCRW (Canadian Council on Rehabilitation and Work) are screening the 2022 documentary film, The Klabona Keepers. This event is FREE and is part of a suite of experiences related to Indigenous cultural practices, questions of land and industry, and the legacy of colonialism and residential schools that Curiko is offering in the coming months. Curiko and CCRW are committed to reconciliation and to deepening our own understanding of Indigeneity here in BC. There will be food provided and ASL interpretation. Following the screening, there will be an online Q&A with Tahltan youth and time for personal and group reflection.

The Film
The Klabona Keepers is a love letter to the land and a testament to the resilience of the Tahltan people—an intimate portrait of the inspiring Indigenous families that succeeded in protecting the Klabona Sacred Headwaters, an important natural habitat in northwest British Columbia. Overcoming forced displacement and residential school trauma, the Klabona Keepers show what is possible when a small but dedicated group takes a stand.

The event is free to attend. Funds from this screening go directly towards sending Tahltan youth out on the land.

All who are interested in learning and reflecting are welcome. You are invited to reach out with any accessibility needs you might have to fully engage in the experience. If you require specific accommodations or accessible parking, please let us know.

Space is limited so please register early! If you are unable to attend, please let us know so that we can give your spot to someone else. To reserve your spot click here or follow the button at the top of this page.
