Curious about how apprenticeship can be a powerful employment pathway for persons with disabilities? Join us for an insightful discussion

On September 3, 2024, from 1:00 to 2:30 pm ET, we will join the National Educational Association of Disabled Students (NEADS) and the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum (CAF-FCA), for a discussion in relation to apprentices with disabilities. CAF-FCA will begin the webinar by providing an overview of its Accessibility Framework and its Supporting Equity in Trades Conferences. We will then explore the critical role of education in removing stigma and promoting inclusivity for people with disabilities in the workplace.

Meet the Presenters 

Emily Arrowsmith – CAF-FCA 
Emily Arrowsmith is the Director of Research and Programs at the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum.  In her 17 years at the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum, Emily has led 50 plus national apprenticeship research projects, including the Apprentices in Canada ePanel.  Emily has worked with a diverse range of apprenticeship stakeholders, including youth, apprentices, labour representatives, employers and educators.  Emily recently earned her Bachelor’s in Adult Education from Brock University. She has a Ph.D. from Carleton University.
Jason J. McBride – CCRW | CCRT 
Jason J. McBride's over 30-year career in Management, Training & Development, Post-Secondary Education, and Workforce Development is marked by his roles as a seasoned professional, dedicated educator, and innovative leader. Since joining CCRW | CCRT in 2022, Jason has been instrumental in empowering Red Seal trades apprentices facing challenges, providing them with essential funding, accommodations, and support. His commitment to promoting inclusion and diversity is particularly evident in the Skilled Trades sectors. With over 50 successful restaurant openings, onboarding, training, and managing thousands of employees, Jason's expertise in operational management and entrepreneurial skills are undeniable. His impact as a post-secondary instructor has profoundly shaped future professionals with his knowledge and experience. Jason is globally recognized for his networking prowess, effective communication as a speaker, and his influential role in training and development. At the heart of Jason's career is his unwavering mission to inspire innovation and lifelong learning. His diverse achievements and roles showcase his dedication to excellence and his passion for empowering individuals and businesses in all industries.
